Session 1: Joy & Design
Design can inform, communicate, inspire, delight, engage, educate, startle & entertain… by working, playing, collaborating, researching, observing, noting, crafting, scribbling & learning… A collection of work & play & observations.

Session 2: VFX and post-production techniques
We will begin with an overview of the VFX industry followed by an introduction to Glassworks and share our VFX showreel reel. This will be followed by a 'making of' where we'll a look under the hood of one of our award winning campaigns, dismantle the job to show how we created the VFX, and showcase the custom tools we created to help build the final film.

Session 3: How to get your foot in the door of the creative industry
Sam is a design talent specialist who has helped numerous designers get their foot in the door of top agencies and brands. These include Adam&Eve DDB, Apple, BMB, Karmarama, and many more. Coming from a recruitment background, he will be sharing his experience of the creative industry from behind the scenes of the application process. This hour will cover numerous topics including, how to grow your network and your brand, how to approach agencies, how to stand out, and the top interview tips.

Session 4: Having a laugh. Seriously.
Colour TV’s Jay Pond-Jones and Rebecca Hewett will share everything they know about creating and producing scripted and comedy entertainment. Colour TV’s most recent output has included work with YouTube stars KSI, Jack and Dean, The Midnight Beast, and stand-up comedian Bobby Mair. The group will be encouraged to join in with the creative process in a session that will hopefully have you both learning and laughing.

Session 1: Diverse starts in the creative industry
We discuss diversity as a whole, organisations that are helping to address the balance of diverse talent in the creative industry, and some inspirational stories from a panel of leading professionals.

Session 2: Calling all illustrators and animators…
Meet Nicki and Charlie from Jelly, alongside three of their signed artists for a panel discussion about illustration, animation and being represented. For illustrators, animators and hand-letterers, but also those who will be commissioning them! Dan Woodger will briefly talk about signing to an agent, how he has grown with the support of an agent as well as animating and co-directing; Alva Skog will discuss how she has navigated the industry post-graduation with the support of an agent and her step-up into larger opportunities; and finally, Alison Carmichael will be telling all about how she uses her agent for project management and the overall benefits of an agent.

Session 3: Typography and letter drawing masterclass
This workshop, run by senior designers at Dalton Maag, aims to give participants an introduction to the basic principles of typography, letter drawing and type design. It is structured with 3 theoretical sections, each followed by a practical exercise including optical principles and calligraphic origins (calligraphy exercise); letterform anatomy (letter drawing exercise); and, digital letter drawing principles (digital letter drawing exercise). Every designer should know typography basics…

Session 4: I’m a creative… what do I need to know about directors and production?
The guys at the world renowned RSA Films, plus guest director, will be giving advice for budding creatives on the in’s and out’s of working with a production company and choosing the best talent for your project. A must for those interested not only in motion, directing and photography, but also all advertising and graphics students will be be working with agencies like these in jobs post graduation.

Session 1: The importance of a having a side hustle with D&AD New Blood
Side Hustles are an under-utilised weapon in the fight for recognition. Passion projects can help those fighting their way into industry to show that they have drive and something unique to deliver against a tough market-place. Plus, once you're in industry, holding down a Side Hustle can make all the difference in that promotion. D&AD New Blood will host a talk that discusses the merits (and pitfalls) of having a Side Hustle in your arsenal, and how to get started. Ross Taylor (Iris), Nikky Lyle (Nurture Creatives), and Sarah Boris (Sarah Boris Design Studio) will be joining D&AD New Blood’s Marie Dryden and Hilary Chittenden as guest speakers.

Session 2: Making mistakes and embracing them
Join famously fearless Dan Joyce, from Joyce Division (and Dirty Sanchez fame!) and Olly St John, from NB Studio, in a show-and-tell session where they will be candidly explaining why it’s ok to screw up sometimes, and how it’s creatively empowering to take some risks and be fearless in your work.
